How to Create Successful Comic Books?
I’ve been asked that question over a thousand times on social media and at comic book conventions.
I’d like to say it’s simple.
But that’s not true.
So lets take a look at how you’re going to create your comic book.
Are you taking your comic to a publisher? Going to self-publish? Publish in print, digital or online? Are you writing? Illustrating? (on paper or digital) Coloring? Lettering? Editing? Will you be doing the final production for publishing prepping files for print to digital release? What about promotions? Building a website? Blog? Social Media?
It’s a little overwhelming.
I’ve also been asked all those questions.
Well, first I’ve done most of all the things above with some successes and some failures. I’ve helped others take their projects to major publishers with high expectations and I’ve published other creator’s projects in print, print-on-demand (POD) and digitally. I’ve created my own studio and created several properties, some issues of which had 100,000 copies printed and distributed.
I’ve also put myself out there to help fellow creators. Answered question and started the comic industries “How-To” publication, Sketch Magazine.
So during the coming months I and other creators will be answering all the questions above and more right here with written posts, videos and audios. Soon we’ll be launching a weekly newsletter with exclusive information and links that we find from around the internet in our searches to find unique and different tips and techniques.
We encourage your questions and participation and at the end of the day we hope to make your journey in the comic book market an enjoyable and gratifying experience with as much success as you can with the effort that you can afford to apply to your project.
